Description
A refreshing Tamarind Juice (Tamr Hindi) is a popular Middle Eastern beverage known for its sweet and tangy flavor. Made from tamarind pulp, water, and sweetener, it's a revitalizing drink perfect for hot days.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup tamarind pulp
- 4 cups water
- 1/4 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
- Optional: 1 teaspoon rose water or orange blossom water
Instructions
- Soak the tamarind pulp in warm water for at least 30 minutes, or preferably a few hours, until softened. This helps to easily extract the flavor.
- Squeeze the tamarind pulp with your hands to release the flavor into the water. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove seeds and fibers.
- Add sugar to the strained tamarind juice and stir until dissolved. Adjust the amount of sugar according to your preference.
- Stir in rose water or orange blossom water (if using) for an aromatic touch.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.
Pro Tip
Serve chilled in a frosted glass with ice. Garnish with a slice of lemon or orange for added visual appeal and a citrusy aroma.
