Description
A creamy and comforting Sahlab is a traditional Middle Eastern drink, perfect for warming up on a cool day. This recipe offers a perfectly balanced flavor with a hint of cinnamon and rose water.
Ingredients
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon rose water (optional)
- Chopped pistachios and shredded coconut for garnish
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and 2 tablespoons of cold milk until smooth.
- In a saucepan, heat the remaining milk and sugar over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is dissolved.
- Gradually add the cornstarch mixture to the saucepan, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
- Continue stirring until the mixture thickens to a pudding-like consistency (about 5-7 minutes).
- Remove from heat and stir in the rose water (if using).
- Pour into a glass or mug and garnish with chopped pistachios, shredded coconut, and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
Pro Tip
Serve warm, but can also be served chilled. Adjust sweetness based on preference.
